My days of non-updatable events came to an end last Friday and has lasted until...well, today. Extra tired today, not exhausted, just reaaally tired. Why? More on that later. So due to the little song playing in my head going "You are sleepy...Go to sleeeep...Close your eyes and sleeeep...." I'll just give ya'll quick updates yeah? So lets rewind back to last week and start off from there eh?
Friday
Parents dragged my sleepy self out of bed to go to an MPH warehouse sale. My whole family's a bunch of avid readers, so when we go to a book sale, we seriously buy. We're such loyal MPH warehouse patrons that the manager and main salesperson know my mum! Got myself The Other Boleyn Girl (700 over pages but totally worth reading, especially if you have an interest in history) and a few others.
Immediately after that I followed my mum all the way to Stadium Melawati where they were having a Metrojaya clearance sale. And when they said clearance, what they really meant was clearance of old old stuffs that are probably no longer in production! But it was packed! Massively massively crowded with people! Imagine the stadium full of racks of clothes, household items etc etc!
And now I absolutely MUST complain about the stu-pid system they had when lining up to pay for your stuff. First off. There was no clear line. There were 3 lines, that melded into 2, and then half-way to the cashiers there was another mini line which had somehow formed in the middle of nowhere! Like a bunch of cars stuck in a traffic jam and the lanes had narrowed down from 3 to 1! Excuse the example but that's how it felt like. Best part? There were 2 express cashiers, 5 items or less. BUT. It didn't make any difference because you still had to queue up with the non-express people for over 30 minutes! *rolls eyes* That's Malaysian management for you.
Saturday
Morning was the usual. Housework. So I'll spare you and skip to the evening part. Was over at my grandparent's place to help my grandma, her maid, and my aunt prepare the food for the BBQ the next day. (We decided to have a bbq to celebrate my uncle and aunt's 2nd wedding anniversary and my grandma's early 78th birthday.) Things to do: skewer chicken onto satay sticks and prepare the satay sauces.
My aunt and I were absolute amateurs at satay skewering.
Aunt: Eh, so much meat on yours. Mine 80 cents. Yours RM1.50! Me : Ack! The meat's falling off! It's falling off!
But we managed. Hehe. Then the satay sauces. My grandma has this recipe book which she has had since...a very long time ago. Family recipes in other words. She asked me to get 2 stalks of serai. So I went to the pantry to get some when I heard my grandma and aunt laughing.
Grandma: Hello! Where are you going? Me : Get...serai...? Grandma: You think it grows there ah? Haiyo. Come lah I show you lah.
She takes me out to the back garden and shows me serai, growing straight from the ground. Yup. My grandma has her own supply of ingredients growing in her very own backyard! Owh so sue me for thinking serai was in the pantry! The ingredients I use when cooking are either canned, wrapped or frozen.
Sunday
The 'big' day. Got the bbq fire going and we started cooking the satay, beef and chicken wings. My other aunt brought some mediterranean appetizers and my grandma made a literally rojak salad (it had apples, pineapples, cherry tomatoes, lychee). Then my grandma asked my aunt and I to make some fruit juice. We ransacked the fridge and came up with lychee and orange cordials. Mix both and you get Orchee! Try saying it. Sounds like something else doesn't it? Which made my grandma go "Don't tell your grandpa or else you'll never hear the end of it!" My aunt then goes "Hmm...you know what would make it taste nicer? A bit of brandy *grins*" No, we didn't end up spiking the drinks. Instead, we took a bottle of red wine from my grandma's secret mini-bar.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
Mum tells me that a lorry's comming on Friday to move some furniture over to the new house. See, it's the end of the year and it's not easy to get a lorry. So while waiting for our wooden flooring to set (about 3 weeks-1 month), we're moving stuff over, so that by the time the floor is done, we can just shift the furniture from outside to inside.
Which is why during these 3 days I was clearing out cupboards and bookshelves. Wrapping up my mum's glassware and bone china sets in newspaper, turing my blue nails blackish. Think army pattern but in blue and black. Mum told me and my brother to put aside books we wanna give away. The 'unwanted' pile was not very high. Discovered some old pics and spent all night arranging them because I just couldn't stand seeing the pics so disorganised! Slept at 2am.
Friday
Lorry was arriving around 9.30 which meant that I had to wake up by 9. Then my mum comes home and suddenly decides to transport more furniture. Now the house feels and looks so darn empty! Its gonna be a looong day of housework tomorrow. *groans internally and externally*
You probably noticed that Monday isn't there. Yeah. I spent the whole day reading the books I got from the warehouse sale. Don't think that falls under the category of 'busy'. So yeah. That's all I have for ya. Now I'm off to throw myself on top of my bed and take a trip to dreamland!
